Larry Raid Obituary

It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Larry Raid of Denmark, Iowa, who passed away at the age of 86, on January 9, 2026. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Arlo J. Raid and Leontina D. Raid (Schlecht); his brothers-in-law, Marvin Gingrich, Eugene, Donald, William and Neil Petsche; and his nephews, Troy and Tod Gingrich.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Petsche; his children, Michelle Tuller (Barry), John Raid (Linda) and Laura Witthoeft (Chad); his grandchildren, Zachary (Christine Isaguirre), Rachel Tuller, Ethan, Jenna Raid, Elizabeth, Anna and David Witthoeft; his sister Kay Gingrich; and his sisters-in-law, Margaret Petsche and Janet Erickson (Tom).

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14th 2026 from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM at the Barr Memorial Chapel (1919 Ave F, Fort Madison, IA 52627). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 14th 2026 at 1:30 PM at the same location.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the Midwest Old Threshers Foundation and Denmark Academy Fund.

We are pleased to invite interested letterpress printers to apply for membership in the Amalgamated Printers’ Association (APA). At this time, a limited number of memberships are available, with applications accepted for immediate consideration upon receipt, review, and approval. Objectives of the APA:

  1. To foster interest in the craft of letterpress printing and encourage excellence in letterpress printing.
  2. To provide a means for collective exchange of members work, promoting mutual communication and improvement of letterpress printing skills.
  3. To hold an annual convention, called a “Wayzgoose”, to further realize these purposes.
