On Friday, June 6th, there will be a reception for all APA Daredevil Wayzgoose attendees from 3:30pm to 5:00pm at the RIT Cary Graphic Arts Collection, Wallace Library, 90 Lomb Memorial Dr, Rochester, NY.
It will include viewings of the current Guild of Book Workers Exhibition, Night Circus, and selections from the Stephen O. Saxe Collection.
At 4:30pm, a group photo will be taken of all Daredevil Wayzgoose attendees present.
Night Circus: Guild of Book Workers Triennial Traveling Exhibition
Night Circus is the Guild of Book Workers’ 2024–25 juried exhibition, with RIT hosting one of its five national venues. The exhibition theme invites curiosity in spectacle, while fascinating with artistry and performance. Night Circus artists explore the mysterious and luminous, investigate clandestine actions and secret knowledge, and embrace chaos and otherness. Designer bindings and fine press books with be on view by 31 of the Guild’s talented members.
Selections from the Stephen O. Saxe Collection
Following a career in set design and the graphic arts, Stephen O. Saxe focused on the study and collection of letterpress printing and history. A founding member of the national American Printing History Association (APHA), Saxe was a scholar, writer, and collector. His collection at the Cary Graphic Arts Collection contains Saxe’s printing and personal records; company and press records, type specimens, ephemera, metal type, historic leaves, tools, and presses which provide a breadth of knowledge on the printing industry throughout time. Examples of some of the treasures from the collection will be on view.
