\nNight Circus: Guild of Book Workers Triennial Traveling Exhibition

<\/i>\u00a0is the Guild of Book Workers’ 2024\u201325 juried exhibition, with RIT hosting one of its five national venues. The exhibition theme invites curiosity in spectacle, while fascinating with artistry and performance.\u00a0Night Circus<\/i>\u00a0artists explore the mysterious and luminous, investigate clandestine actions and secret knowledge, and embrace chaos and otherness. Designer bindings and fine press books with be on view by 31 of the Guild’s talented members.<\/p>\n

Following a career in set design and the graphic arts, Stephen O. Saxe focused on the study and collection of letterpress printing and history. A founding member of the national American Printing History Association (APHA), Saxe was a scholar, writer, and collector. His\u00a0collection at the Cary Graphic Arts Collection<\/a>\u00a0contains Saxe’s printing and personal records; company and press records, type specimens, ephemera, metal type, historic leaves, tools, and presses which provide a breadth of knowledge on the printing industry throughout time. Examples of some of the treasures from the collection will be on view.<\/p>\n
