Painting with the Press
(Saturday, June 3 – 6:00pm to 9:00pm)

with Chris Fritton (aka The Itinerant Printer)

Chris Fritton has spent the last eight years traveling North America visiting different letterpress print shops; to date he’s covered over 100,000 miles, visited over 200 shops, and made over 35,000 prints along the way. Join him as he recounts stories from the road, explores unconventional and experimental techniques, muses about the analog & the digital, and talks about his own stylistic journey toward the weird.

An exploration of contemporary and experimental approaches to letterpress printing – students will learn how to use the printing press in novel, inventive ways, producing unexpected results. Looking at traditional tools and materials in new ways allows participants to break free from shackles of orthodox printmaking. This workshop is for all levels; from aspiring to experienced printmakers, letterpress printers, typographers, and graphic designers. Each student will leave with 5-10 prints. No experience necessary, all materials included courtesy of Mohawk Paper and DayGlo inks.

Cost $50
Maximum Attendees: 10 [5  seats remaining as of 12:00pm May 24th]
